Red Beans and Rice:
Ingredients:
-one frozen package of chopped onions, celery, and bell pepper [I buy the pre-chopped frozen bags but if you can't find it, chopping your own is fine]
-1 lb andouille sausage [hot sausage, you can use mild if you'd like]
-3 cans of Blue Runner Cream style red beans
- 1 lb ground beef
How to:
Throw the seasoning blend and the ground beef in the bottom of the pot, season with salt, pepper, tony cachere's, whatever you prefer. Cut the sausage into half circles and throw in too, then drain off excess fat. Pour in the three cans of beans, adding 1/2 can of water for each can you put in (for three cans of beans, you'll essentially add a can and a half of water). Let it cook down a little bit, and serve over rice and voila! Easy, fast, and a great Louisiana dish! My best friend from California makes this all the time for her family back home and they love it.
